Tackling Foxgloves

Fingerpost Track

Tuesday 3 March 2020

At the junction of the Fingerpost and Bracken Lane tracks there is an old disturbed site with a big pine tree. Here there is a lot of building and metal rubbish that had been dumped or left and foxgloves abound. The latter had been sprayed by the council and it looked to have been a very effective job. We scoured the area for any still alive and to locate any new plants. An area below Bracken Lane fire trail was also tackled where several small foxglove plants and a few old ones were removed. Spanish heath at the site was also pulled out, some hidden by Bracken fern.

The COH Bushcare advertised the event and nine extra people turned up. This included a group from foreign lands, who I discovered volunteer as part of obtaining an Australian visa.
