One of the areas mentioned for Friends of Wellington Park action was in Kalang beside an informal track near Barossa Creek. We worked there in 2021, but a fresh patch Erica and Broom was located earlier this year and needed action. Most had not reached flowering stage, apart from a large Broom that had been previously overlooked. We initially tackled the Spanish Heath (Erica lusitanica) then removed the old Montpelier Broom (Genista or Cytisus monspessulana) and all the smaller plants that could be found nearby. Not all the Erica could be removed, and we will return in July to finish it off.
It was about a 900 metres walk to the work site through pleasant bush on fire trails and bush tracks
