Eleven volunteers joined Bushcare team leader Bec Johnson on a beautiful spring day to deal with a variety of woody weeds.
We started by dealing with some very large gorse plants, some pittosporums that are not native to Tasmania and some radiata pines and removing barbed wire from an old fence in the bush.
We then enjoyed a very tasty morning tea provided by the council.
After that, we split into 2 groups. One continued to weed large gorse plants in the bush near powerlines. The other group crossed Guy Fawkes Rivulet and dealt with a number of very tall radiata pines, another pittosporum, some fuchsia growing on the banks of the rivulet and more gorse.
After lunch, some of us weeded mignonette, thistles and arum lilies growing beside Old Farm Road.
